Nationwide doctors’ strike disrupts medical services in Alipurduar District Hospital; patients face hardship

Alipurduar, 17th August: Medical services at the Alipurduar District Hospital were disrupted on Saturday as doctors joined the 24-hour nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in protest against the recent R.G. Kar Hospital incident. As a result, outdoor services at the hospital were closed, leaving patients and their families in distress.

The strike, which has sparked protests across the country, has led to significant challenges for patients seeking medical care. Many who came to the hospital for treatment were forced to return home without receiving any assistance.

Upon learning of the situation, Suman Kanjilal, MLA and Chairman of the Patient Welfare Association, visited the hospital to assess the situation. He engaged in discussions with the doctors and arranged for urgent cases to be attended to. Despite this intervention, patients and their families are urging for the swift normalization of medical services.

Speaking on the matter, MLA Suman Kanjilal noted that the doctors’ strike is a nationwide issue, and its impact is being felt in hospitals across the country, with Outpatient Department (OPD) services being particularly affected.
