Siliguri, 18th October: The authorities at Siliguri District Hospital have formed an inquiry committee following the alarming incident of a missing infant’s body. The committee, consisting of three members, has been instructed to submit a report within three days.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the body of a newborn was reported missing from the maternity department. Reports indicate that the hospital’s CCTV cameras were non-operational at the time of the incident, raising questions about security measures in place.
In response to the situation, the Siliguri police have initiated an investigation. On Friday, members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest outside the district hospital, demanding the removal of those responsible for the negligence in duty.
