Siliguri, 31st July: A tragic incident unfolded in Siliguri as Amit Sahni, a young man from Ward No. 18, lost his life in a mysterious drowning accident while on a picnic with his friends at Gulma River. However, his family and neighbours strongly believe that Amit’s death was not an accident but a premeditated murder. In protest, they displayed the deceased’s body on the road, demanding justice and the immediate arrest of the six friends who accompanied Amit to Gulma.
After the post-mortem, the family members gathered to demonstrate their grievances, emphasizing that the water level in Gulma River was not high enough to cause drowning, raising suspicion over the circumstances of Amit’s death. In response to the incident, the police administration and Councilor Sanjay Sharma of Ward No. 18 visited the scene and assured the family of a thorough investigation to uncover the truth. They pledged to apprehend the guilty parties responsible for Amit’s untimely demise.
According to the information, Amit and six of his friends went to Gulma for a picnic on Sunday, during which they consumed alcohol and decided to take a swim in the river. Tragedy struck when one of the friends, named Raj, began to drown, and in a heroic attempt to save his companion, Amit, who was also intoxicated, plunged into the water and tragically drowned. His friends immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
