Naxalbari, 28th November: The body of 19-year-old Ranjan Roy from Dhakna Jote in Naxalbari, who was mute and hearing-impaired since childhood, was found hanging from a bamboo grove near his house on Friday morning.
According to family sources, Ranjan had become withdrawn after the death of his mother about 10 years ago. He lived with his father at home. A local resident spotted the body in the bamboo grove near the house and informed the family.
Police from Naxalbari police station reached the scene and recovered the body, which was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. The incident has left the local community in shock and grief.
