Murder accused Md Abbas confesses in court, seeks meeting with parents

Siliguri, 05th September: In a dramatic turn of events, the murder suspect, Md. Abbas, confessed to his crime during his third court appearance today. Abbas openly acknowledged his wrongdoing and expressed his willingness to accept whatever punishment the court deems appropriate. This unexpected admission sent shockwaves through the courtroom. Abbas’s confession came after four days of police remand for the second time, marking a crucial moment in the ongoing legal proceedings.

When asked by the judge if he had anything to say about the incident, Abbas admitted his guilt, stating that he made a grave mistake and is ready to face the consequences of his actions. Furthermore, he made a plea before the judge, requesting an opportunity to meet his parents. The court is currently considering this request.

In addition to this, a bail petition was submitted to the court today on behalf of Abbas, which was promptly rejected by the judge. Government-appointed lawyers Pijush Kanti Ghosh and Susmita Basu explained that while Abbas had confessed in court, it may not be legally valid without proper legal representation. To address this, a lawyer from the Legal Cell has been assigned to Abbas. Once the lawyer files the necessary petition, the court will formally accept Abbas’s confession. Additionally, the court will consider his request to meet his family. Meanwhile, the court ordered Abbas to be held in judicial custody for 14 days.
