Siliguri, 01st September: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a meeting in Siliguri, on Wednesday, with the MLAs of North Bengal. Various issues concerning the development of the region as well as to further strengthen the party’s foundation in North Bengal were discussed. While Darjeeling MP Raju Bista chaired the meeting, many MLAs remained absent.
Addressing the media after the meeting, MP Bista alleged that North Bengal is deprived in many ways and that there is no development here. The party discussed what initiatives can be taken to develop the region in the coming days.
Speaking on the issue of a separate state for North Bengal, Raju Bista said that this is the demand of the people as there is no development in North Bengal. According to BJP sources, a meeting will be held with BJP MLAs in North Bengal again under the leadership of State President Dilip Ghosh and Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari.
