Siliguri, 18th April: In a recent press release, it was informed by Darjeeling MP Raju Bista that Rs. 222.66 crores have been allocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya towards augmenting the healthcare facilities in the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.
The Health Minister stated that the Ministry has sanctioned approximately Rs 222.66 crores towards the development of Health Infrastructure in the region, including a Critical Care Hospital Block in the Darjeeling District under the PM-ABHIM scheme.
Furthermore, Darjeeling District (including the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad) has been allocated over Rs 90 crores, Kalimpong District has been allocated over Rs 21 crores, and North Dinajpur district has been allocated over Rs 111 crores under the National Health Mission FY 2022-23, PM-ABHIM, and 15th Finance Commission Health Grants for the FY 2021-22 and 2022-23. These funds have been allocated with the aim of strengthening the Public Health Systems in the region. It was further stated that the Critical Care Hospital Block in Darjeeling District will improve the management of patients with critical illness and infectious diseases.
“Under the leadership of PM Modi ji, the overall development of our region has been accorded top priority, and every sector will see tremendous development in the coming days,” MP Bista added.
