Siliguri, 27th April: A tragic incident occurred this afternoon near NJP Rail Hospital More in Siliguri, where a mother and her daughter lost their lives. Bimla Roy and her 4-year-old daughter, Saraswati Roy, were on their way back home on a bicycle after school when a truck hit them, killing them both instantly.
Saraswati was a student of Sharda Shishu Tirtha School located in Suryasen Colony, where she had been admitted three months ago. The incident has caused a tense atmosphere in the locality, and local residents protested, alleging that despite the truck being driven recklessly, the police had taken no action.
Upon reaching the spot, the NJP police encountered heated emotions from the locals and the family members of the deceased. The authorities have seized the truck and have assured that the driver will be arrested. ADCP Subhendra Kumar also visited the location to oversee the situation.
