Fulbari, 24th June: A single day of rain has left Mahananda Barrage Primary School in Fulbari’s Paschim Dhantala, under Rajganj block, submerged in knee-deep water, causing severe inconvenience to students and teachers.
According to reports, the school lacks a proper drainage system, resulting in waterlogging on the premises every year during the monsoon. Following Monday night’s rainfall, the entire school compound was flooded by Tuesday morning, preventing students from entering the building.
Akhtarul Islam, an assistant teacher, stated that this has been a recurring issue for years. He said that even moderate rain floods the school grounds, and this year is no different. Around 144 students from classes one to four are enrolled in the school, but most were unable to attend due to the flooded campus.
Despite repeated complaints to the Panchayat, Pradhan, and other concerned departments, no action has been taken to resolve the drainage issue. Teachers and parents alike have expressed frustration, as the situation continues to disrupt education every monsoon season.
