Siliguri, 29th July: As every year, “Mohun Bagan Day” was celebrated in Siliguri by the Siliguri Mariners Fans’ Club. On Saturday, Siliguri’s Mohun Bagan Avenue was adorned with green-maroon balloons and flags to commemorate the occasion. The event commenced with a speech by members of the fan club, highlighting the rich history of the club and the significance of 29th July as Mohun Bagan Day.
Siliguri’s Deputy Mayor, Ranjan Sarkar, graced the celebration as the chief guest. He inaugurated the festivities by hoisting the flag of Mohun Bagan Club. The day’s festivities continued with the joyful burst of balloons and the cutting of a celebratory cake. During the event, Ranjan Sarkar emphasized that 29th July holds special significance for football enthusiasts. He stressed that the development of Indian football cannot solely rely on Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, two renowned football clubs. Instead, he envisioned a dream where India participates and excels in the Football World Cup, reflecting the broader aspirations of football lovers in the country.
