Model Ward? BJP candidate Bhushan Jain takes a jibe at former TMC councillor Manik Dey of Ward No. 13

Siliguri, 10 February: In the last-minute campaign, candidates of all political parties have been campaigning in full swing. Today during the election campaign, BJP candidate Bhushan Jain took a jibe at former councillor Manik Dey of Ward No. 13 over his claims for a “Model Ward”.

The BJP candidate alleged that the ward residents are still facing ground-level problems. The waterlogging condition in the high drain in the ward remains deplorable and the people living in the ward have many unsolved problems. “Despite this, the former councillor calls the ward a ‘model ward’,” Jain further alleged.

Countering the allegations, former Trinamool Congress councillor Manik Dey said, “Some outsider, who does not know anything about the ward and whom the people of the ward does not even recognize, are trying to divert the people during the election period by questioning the ward being model.”

He further stated that a well-constructed road, electricity systems, and drainage systems do not make a model ward. Solving small conflicts and problems makes the ward ‘model’.

He added that many small issues have been resolved in the last 5 years, due to which Ward No. 13 is a model ward out of all 47 wards of Siliguri Municipal Corporation and believes that the ward residents will once again vote for the Trinamool Congress and give them a chance to serve.
