Siliguri, 30th December: Panic spread in the Lake Town area under Ward No. 33 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation after a theft was reported at a mobile phone shop.
According to information, the shop owner arrived on Tuesday morning to open the shop and found the shutter broken and goods scattered inside, indicating a burglary.
The incident was immediately reported to the NJP police station. Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Police have started examining CCTV footage installed at the shop to trace the accused and ascertain the sequence of events.
The shop owner stated that a miscreant broke open the shutter early in the morning, entered the shop, and fled with around 40 mobile phones along with some cash. Police said further investigation is underway.
