MLA Shankar Ghosh tours modern facilities of Vande Bharat Sleeper train at NJP railway station

Siliguri, 17th January: The nation’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Malda, arrived at NJP (New Jalpaiguri) railway station in Siliguri. Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh was present at the station to witness this historic moment.


The Vande Bharat train was formally welcomed at NJP station, and MLA Shankar Ghosh boarded the train to explore its modern facilities.

Speaking to the media, he said the Vande Bharat Sleeper train was a long-awaited boon for the people of Northeast India. Until now, there had been no suitable overnight train service on the Kolkata route. The introduction of this new sleeper service will make travel for passengers from North Bengal and the Northeast easier and more comfortable.


He added that the train will open new avenues for development in North Bengal and the Northeast region, enhancing connectivity and fostering growth.
