MLA Shankar Ghosh submit memorandum demanding to keep schools in North Bengal open during summer break

Siliguri, 28th April: In view of the heatwave condition, the West Bengal government on Wednesday announced that all schools in the state, excluding schools in the hill districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong, will go on summer break from May 2, 2022 to June 15, 2022.
In this context, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh today submitted a memorandum to the District Inspector of Schools, Rajiv Pramanik, demanding that schools in North Bengal be kept open during the summer break.
He stated that there is no significant impact of the heatwave in the hills as well as in Siliguri and its surrounding areas as of now.
“Educational institutions were closed for the last two years due to the pandemic. Due to this, the students have gone far behind in their studies,” the MLA stated. Furthermore, he accused the state government of trying to deprive students of education by closing the educational institutions for summer break. He said that the state government should immediately withdraw the decision. And advised starting classes early morning to avoid the heat.
