Darjeeling, 11th May: In view of the second wave of COVID-19, MLA Neeraj Zimba has written a letter to the Darjeeling Magistrate, regarding the need of changing the schedule for opening a market in the Darjeeling hill region during the partial lockdown issued by the state government.
MLA Zimba said that the market opening schedule is currently from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. According to the public’s appeal, the schedule is inconvenient for the people living in rural and tea garden areas of Darjeeling. In regard to the public appeal, the current schedule makes it impossible for long-distance commuters to reach the market and return home before dark.
Hence, MLA Zimba has demanded the district administration to revise the schedule in the hills as the current schedule is causing inconvenience for people to buy and sell their daily necessities.
