MLA Khageswar Roy lays foundation stone for two bridges in Rajganj

Rajganj, 28th March: Addressing a long-standing demand, MLA Khageswar Roy laid the foundation stone for two bridges in Rajganj on Friday.


The MLA inaugurated the foundation work for a key bridge at Sahebbari in Belakoba under Shikarpur Gram Panchayat. The bridge, being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹10.42 crore, is funded by the West Bengal State Rural Development Agency (WBSRDA).

In a separate event, the MLA also laid the foundation stone for another bridge in Hasuapara village under the same gram panchayat. The bridge, over the Chawai River, will be constructed at a cost of ₹7.41 crore.


The construction of both bridges is expected to significantly improve road connectivity in the region, benefiting local residents. The foundation stone-laying ceremonies were attended by Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Karmadhyaksha Ranbir Majumdar, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Rupali Dey Sarkar, Shikarpur Gram Panchayat Pradhan Prabha Kujur, Panikauri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Papiya Sarkar, Narayan Basak, and Rajnikant Roy.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Khageswar Roy highlighted that the two existing bridges had been in a dilapidated condition for a long time, leading to restrictions on heavy traffic and causing transportation difficulties for villagers. Considering the hardships faced by the people, the foundation stone-laying ceremony was organized to facilitate much-needed infrastructure development.
