Rajganj, 22nd December: A foundation stone was laid on Monday for the construction of a new concrete road in Rajganj by local MLA Khageswar Roy. The road will stretch for around one and a half kilometres, connecting Dhundipara Mosque to the Bholapara PWD Road under the Sukani Panchayat of Rajganj block.
According to sources, the road will be constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹84 lakh with financial assistance from the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the West Bengal government.
Several local leaders were present at the foundation-laying ceremony, including Rajganj Block Trinamool Congress president Arindam Banerjee, INTTUC block president Sheikh Umar Farooq, area president Izrail Haque, Farzan Ali and other party functionaries.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Khageswar Roy said a long-standing demand of the local residents had finally been fulfilled. He added that the construction of the road would benefit people from several surrounding villages and significantly improve connectivity in the area.
