Siliguri, 27th June: On the occasion of Rath Yatra, Mitra Sammilni marked the beginning of its 99th Durga Puja celebrations with the traditional ‘Katham Puja’. In an era where many pujas are known for their themes, lighting, and technology, Mitra Sammilni continues to uphold its legacy of rituals and cultural heritage.
As in previous years, preparations have begun with the same devotion and tradition. A large number of devotees and locals gathered to witness the ‘Katham Puja’, highlighting the deep emotional connection people have with this historic celebration.
Organisers shared that while this year marks their 99th puja, efforts are already underway to make the 100th-year celebrations even more grand. Known as one of the oldest Durga Pujas in Siliguri, Mitra Sammilni remains a cherished part of the city’s festive identity.
