‘Missing’ posters demanding search for Rajganj BDO Prashant Barman put up outside BDO office

Rajganj, 27th December: ‘Missing’ posters demanding the search for Rajganj BDO Prashant Barman were put up across Rajganj on Saturday, including outside the BDO office. The posters, issued by the SFI Rajganj Local Committee, read: “Search required, search required – Rajganj BDO missing.”

The development comes after the Calcutta High Court directed Barman to surrender, but he has not reported to his office since. On Friday, following an application by the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, the Bidhannagar Sub-Divisional Court issued an arrest warrant against him.

SFI members alleged that despite the office being open, Barman has not been present. He is wanted in connection with the abduction and murder of a businessman from Kolkata. The court had previously granted him anticipatory bail in Barasat, which was later canceled by the Calcutta High Court, directing him to surrender within 72 hours.

Barman challenged the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court, but no verdict has been delivered yet. After the 72-hour deadline lapsed, the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate filed an arrest application, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

SFI members questioned why Barman is evading arrest if he is not involved in the incident. His current whereabouts remain unknown, prompting the demand for his immediate search through public posters.
