Siliguri, 27th August: While heavy rain lashed Siliguri on Thursday late night, a group of miscreants attempted to loot an ATM located at Samar Nagar Battala under Pradhan Nagar police station area. This matter came to the notice of the locals this morning.
After the incident was reported to Pradhan Nagar Police Station, the DCP (West Zone) Kunwar Bhushan Singh, ACP (DD) Rajen Chhetri, ACP West Chandan Das, IC of Pradhan Nagar Police Station and other police personnel reached the spot. The CCTV footage of the area is being examined for an investigation.
Locals alleged that no security guards are stationed at the ATM. Earlier too, attempts were made to loot the same ATM.
On the other hand, the ATM authorities informed that the miscreants destroyed the screen and CCTV camera of the ATM. However, they failed to steal any cash. The issue about the absence of security guards will be informed to the higher authorities.
