Kharibari, 03rd August: In a recent development, miscreants posing as passengers assaulted an e-rickshaw (toto) driver and absconded with his vehicle in the Sona Chandi Tea Estate area of Kharibari, causing turmoil in the locality.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday night when three youths boarded Lalit Barman’s toto to travel from Hawdabhita to Ghoshpukur. During the journey, the miscreants allegedly placed a gun to the driver’s head and assaulted him in the tea estate area. They then tied him to a tree and escaped with his money, mobile phone, and the toto.
The injured driver managed to inform his family with the help of local residents. He was later rescued and admitted to Kharibari Hospital. The driver remains in a state of fear following the incident.
The father of the injured driver has lodged a written complaint at the Kharibari police station. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
