Naxalbari, 03rd July: Tension erupted in the Satbhaiya Division of Atal Tea Estate after a tea garden worker allegedly assaulted nine minors on suspicion of killing a bird. The incident took place on Wednesday and has triggered outrage in the Roy Para area.
According to reports, the minors were seen holding a dead bird when the tea worker confronted them. Suspecting them of killing it, he allegedly beat them. Later, the accused reportedly demanded money from the minors’ families. Upon receiving the information, the relatives rushed to the spot and rescued the injured children. One of the minors was admitted to Naxalbari Rural Hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, the victims’ families lodged a written complaint at Naxalbari police station, demanding strict action against the accused. Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
