Siliguri, 17th February: Police from Pradhan Nagar Police Station in Siliguri have arrested a 22-year-old man, identified as Sahnur Hasan, in connection with the alleged abduction of a 16-year-old minor girl. Hasan is reportedly a resident of Haldibari.
According to police sources, the minor had been missing from her home since Sunday. Her family filed a written complaint at the police station, prompting an investigation. During the probe, with the assistance of an NGO, the girl was safely rescued from the Siliguri Junction area. Sahnur Hasan, who was with her at the time, was also arrested.
Preliminary questioning revealed that the two shared a romantic relationship and had possibly run away from home with intentions of marriage. Reports indicate that the minor’s maternal relatives live in Haldibari, where the two had first met, which later developed into a relationship.
Police have registered a case against Sahnur Hasan under relevant sections of the law relating to abduction and presented him before the Siliguri court. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
