Siliguri, 04th February: An unsettling incident came to the fore after a minor girl, allegedly sold off to a brothel in Siliguri, managed to escape and find her way to safety. The minor, originally from Arunachal Pradesh, was brought to Siliguri under the deception of a job opportunity.
Reports indicate that the minor was sent to Siliguri by a relative along with another woman for work. Allegedly, the woman lured the minor with the promise of employment and brought her to Siliguri, where she was sold into a brothel and captivated in a room.
Upon realizing her situation, the minor managed to escape and arrived at the NJP station on Monday. While wandering around, she caught the attention of TMC workers, who immediately intervened and took her to their party office. The girl then disclosed the entire ordeal to them.
The matter was reported to the police, and officers from the NJP police station promptly arrived to rescue the girl. She was taken to the station for further protection, while an investigation into the incident is currently underway.
