Darjeeling, 25 April: Today, the Darjeeling District Session Court sentenced Jairam Rai, a resident of Dootriah Balasun, Darjeeling, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a 9-year-old girl. The case, which was under the jurisdiction of the Jorebungalow Police Station, was investigated by Rajan Gogoi.
After a thorough trial, the court found Jairam guilty of committing a crime against the minor girl. Pranay Rai, the Public Prosecutor of the Darjeeling District Session Court, stated that Jairam was convicted under IPC 354 and 354B, and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Additionally, the court awarded the victim Rs. 3 Lakhs as compensation under Section 327A.
