Phansidewa, 04th April: A tragic accident occurred in the Balason River in the Danagach area of Phansidewa, where a young boy drowned while bathing with friends.
The boy, identified as 9-year-old Daniyen Beg from Saldangi, Phansidewa, went for a swim with several locals when he suddenly submerged and started struggling. Locals rushed to the spot and rescued him. He was first taken to Phansidewa Rural Hospital and later to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where doctors declared him dead.
Police from Bagdogra and Phansidewa police stations reached the scene and have begun a full investigation. The incident has left the local community in grief.
