Mini Van carrying school children catches fire in Siliguri, students escape narrowly

Siliguri, 11th March: A mini van transporting school children caught fire in Siliguri, creating panic in the area. Significantly, due to the driver’s quick thinking, all the children narrowly escaped unhurt. Following the incident, parents have accused the school management of negligence.


According to reports, the mini van was carrying around 15 children from a private school in Devidanga after school hours. While passing through the Babubasa area, the driver noticed sparks coming from the vehicle. Acting swiftly, the driver stopped the van on the roadside and safely evacuated the children.

Moments after the children were moved to safety, the van was engulfed in flames. Despite the fire department being informed, the vehicle was completely reduced to ashes before the fire engine arrived.


Concerned parents have blamed the school management for negligence, alleging that the van was very old and they had previously requested its replacement.

The Pradhan Nagar police have started investigating the incident.
