Migratory birds arrive at Gajoldoba, tourists delighted by boat rides

Gajoldoba, 13th December: With the onset of winter, migratory birds have started arriving at Gajoldoba, attracting tourists eager to watch them. Birds from countries including South Africa and Siberia have gathered at the Teesta Barrage.


The area near the popular tourist spot ‘Bhorer Alo’ has become a hotspot for birdwatching, especially during winter when the presence of migratory birds adds to its charm. Every year, tourists from across the region visit Gajoldoba to see the birds, often taking boat rides for a closer view.

Local boatmen act as guides, helping visitors identify different bird species and learn their names. Tourists express delight at seeing these unfamiliar birds up close.


Boatmen said the arrival of migratory birds signals the start of the peak tourist season. The winter influx not only draws more visitors but also provides locals with additional income.
