Siliguri, 12th April: The body of a middle-aged man has been found hanging from a noose. This incident is from the area under Ward No. 05 of Siliguri. The name of the deceased is Loknath Dutta (50).
According to reports, the deceased used to live alone at home and was engaged in the scrap business. It is said that his door was closed for a long time on Saturday, which raised suspicion among the local people. Subsequently, they informed the police.
Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot and broke open the door of the house, only to find Loknath hanging from the noose. After this, the police recovered the body and sent to Siliguri District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Later, the body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem.
Ward Councillor Anita Mahato has expressed grief over the incident and appealed to the police to uncover the reasons behind it. The police are trying to contact the family members of the deceased and are conducting further investigation.
