Siliguri, 26th July: A middle-aged man has been arrested for blackmailing and sexually assaulting a woman after taking obscene photos of her during a bath. The accused, identified as Badal Sarkar (55) from the Matigara area near Siliguri, was taken into custody by the Women’s Police Station.
According to reports, Badal Sarkar, a friend of the woman’s husband, frequently visited the woman’s home. It is alleged that Sarkar exploited his friendship to secretly photograph the woman while she was bathing. Using these photos as leverage, Sarkar allegedly raped the woman multiple times.
The victim eventually came forward and lodged a formal complaint at the Women’s Police Station on July 24. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police arrested Badal Sarkar within 24 hours. Sarkar, a businessman by profession, was presented in Siliguri court on Friday. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
