Siliguri, 02nd June: The NJP branch of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) handed over a memorandum to the ADRM of the railway department demanding immediate vaccination of railway contract workers.
The members of the organization said that around 276 contract workers are involved in various activities including sanitation work. During the COVID period, they are working at the frontline risking their lives. However, they are deprived of vaccination due to the indifference of the railway department. Hence, a memorandum was handed over to the ADRM of the Railway Department at the Railway Area Office demanding that they be vaccinated immediately.
The organization’s Darjeeling district president Arup Ratan Ghosh warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
