Alipurduar, 26th July: On Wednesday, a significant meeting was held at Dooars Kanya in Alipurduar district to address the pressing issue of maternal fatalities and enhance post-natal care for mothers. The gathering included District Magistrate Surendra Kumar Meena, District Chief Health Officer Dr. Sumit Ganguly, Health Officers, physicians from various blocks, and relatives of pregnant women who tragically passed away within the last two months.
According to Dr. Sumit Ganguly, the District Chief Health Officer, there have been a total of seven maternal deaths in the district so far this year, with three occurring in the last two months. The meeting focused on exploring solutions to address any issues related to negligence in maternal care and finding ways to improve the overall healthcare services provided during childbirth.
