Medical student from Nepal arrested by BSF at Phansidewa for illegal entry after losing passport

Phansidewa, 02nd January: A Nepal medical student was apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) for attempting to illegally return to Nepal after losing his passport. The student has been identified as identified as Nirmal Raj KC, a resident of Jumla, Nepal.


The incident occurred near the Murikhawa area of the Indo-Bangladesh border in Phansidewa. The student had been studying at Jaharul Islam Medical College in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, for the past five years. After losing his passport, he planned to cross India and reach Nepal unlawfully. However, he was caught while attempting to enter India.

Nirmal was handed over to the Phansidewa police and later presented in Siliguri court on Thursday. Police have filed charges against him for illegal immigration.
