Siliguri, 21st March: On Thursday, the Mayor’s Cup Inter-School Carrom Competition 2024 commenced at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri. The event has been organized under the initiative of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Siliguri District Carrom 29” Association.
Reportedly, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Member of Krira Parishad Swapan Das, Referee and Umpire Association Secretary Rana Dey Sarkar, District Carrom Association Secretary Sanjib Ghosh inaugurated the competition by lighting the lamp. The tournament would be held in 8 boards with around hundreds of students participating from 15 schools under SMC.
Significantly, the tournament is held to grow enthusiasm for sports along with studies among the school students. In this regard, Mayor Gautam Deb stated that next year the competition would be organised on a grand-scale in the Indoor Stadium. He added that such tournament have been organized to draw attention of the students towards sports along with academics.
