Mayor visits Ramakrishna Mission amid land encroachment allegations in Matigara

Siliguri, 02nd August: Allegations of land encroachment at Ramakrishna Mission in Matigara have sparked discussions between the mayor and the saints of the ashram. Reportedly, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb visited the Ramakrishna Mission on Friday afternoon.


 

According to reports, during the meeting, the ashram’s secretary, Swami Binayananda, provided Mayor Deb with detailed information regarding the alleged encroachment of the entire 9.90 acres of land in Matigara. It was revealed that several individuals had mutated the land under their own names.


 

Recently, officials from the Darjeeling district administration, including the mayor, and the police commissioner had been informed about the matter in a letter by the ashram authorities. Upon receiving the letter, Mayor Gautam Deb arrived at the ashram to discuss the matter with the ashram authorities on Thursday.

 

In this regard, the mayor stated to report all details of the matter to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, the ashram authorities were contended with the assurance given by the mayor during the discussion.
