Siliguri, 22nd February: On Friday, Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Ashok Bhattacharya announced that the Left Board has decided to waive water charges collected from BPL card holders. The Mayor further added that anyone who will build a house that is a maximum of two stories on a plot that measures two kattahs or less will not have to get the plan approved by the civic body.
This may be regarded as a political move by the Mayor with the West Bengal Assembly Election just around the corner. It is to be noted, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who promised the citizens of providing schemes like free electricity, water, and travel fair for women, was brought into power for the third time in Delhi
