Siliguri, 12th October: On Thursday, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb officially inaugurated the ‘Maa Canteen’ ahead of Durga Puja at the Kakarbhita stand near Siliguri Junction. Following the inauguration, Mayor Deb also had his meal at the canteen. During the inauguration, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar and other officials were also present.
Reportedly, for just Rs 5, papar, rice, pulses, vegetables, and eggs are offered at the ‘Maa Canteen’. The initiative will immensely benefit the common people and passers-by, who can relish their meals at a minor cost. In this regard, Mayor Deb stated that several people arrive at Siliguri during the Durga Puja, and the Siliguri Junction is crowded with commuters. In view of this, the canteen has been inaugurated in the area.
