Siliguri, 14th April: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb conducted a rally and a meeting at the election center of the Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency in support of Trinamool Congress candidate Gopal Lama.
According to reports, the campaign was held in the Chathat Bazar area of Phansidewa witnessed Mayor Gautam Deb rallying alongside party workers, rallying for Gopal Lama’s candidacy in the upcoming elections. During the rally, Mayor Gautam Deb expressed strong confidence in the TMC’s potential to lead in the electoral records of the area. He further acknowledged the leader of the district while announcing CM Mamata Banerjee’s rally in Siliguri on April 16. Mayor Deb emphasized the local strength of leadership, asserting that the district does not require leaders from Delhi or outsiders for effective campaigning.
In a notable remark, he took a swipe at BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty, who is actively campaigning for the BJP in the northern region. The campaign witnessed the presence of notable figures such as Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, TMC Mahila President Susmita Bose Moitra, Kuntal Roy, Block Vice President Aktar Ali, Ainul Haque, and several others.
