Siliguri, 06th April: In view of the poor health-care facilities in the entire North Bengal, Siliguri Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya wrote a letter to the State Health Minister and State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday bringing their attention to the dismal infrastructural conditions prevailing in hospitals and medical colleges in the districts of North Bengal and appealing for an immediate up-gradation of North Bengal’s healthcare infrastructure and proper access to medical facilities.
The Mayor stated that the suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in Siliguri, as well as the entire North Bengal, are not receiving proper treatment in the hospitals due to a lack of doctors and proper access to medical facilities. As a result, the number of positive cases is on the rise. He expressed fear that if the State Health Department does not take a step forward in this regard, then the deadly virus will take many more innocent lives in the future.
In this regard, the Mayor sent a letter to the State Health Minister and CM Mamata Banerjee urging them to immediately look into the matter.
