Siliguri, 07th October: Addressing the media, CPI(M) state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra stated that supreme power should be given to the Hills in accordance with the constitution rules.
Reportedly, Surjya Kanta Mishra has been involved in various party works. He is also holding regular meetings with the district leaders to work out strategies for the forthcoming assembly, corporation, panchayat, and sub-divisional council elections. He held a meeting on Wednesday with the district leaders of North Bengal at Anil Biswas Bhavan in Hillcart Road.
In this context, Mishra held the state government responsible for the unrest in the hills. He demanded that the hills should be given higher powers in accordance with the constitution. Besides, he also demanded the development of the hill residents under the Sixth Schedule.
