Matigara police return 37 lost and stolen phones to owners on Bengali New Year

Siliguri, 15th April: On the auspicious occasion of Bengali New Year, Pohela Boishakh, the Matigara police gifted joy to 37 people by returning their lost and stolen mobile phones.


Reportedly, several complaints regarding missing and stolen phones had been lodged at the Matigara police station under Siliguri Metropolitan Police in recent times. Acting on these complaints, police initiated an investigation and interrogated arrested suspects to trace the stolen devices.

With assistance from the technical team, the phones were tracked using IMEI numbers, and the rightful owners were identified based on previously filed complaints.


On Tuesday, Matigara Police Station In-charge Arindam Bhattacharya officially handed over the recovered phones to their owners, who expressed happiness and gratitude towards the police.
