Siliguri, 05th November: Ahead of Diwali, Matigara Police brought relief to 36 people by returning their stolen and lost mobile phones. The police recovered 36 mobile phones and handed them over to their rightful owners on Thursday. The recipients were delighted to get their phones back just before the festive occasion.
The mobile phones were handed over during a programme organised at Matigara Police Station in the presence of Anirban Majumdar, ACP of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, and Manojit Sarkar, Inspector-in-Charge of Matigara Police Station.
Among the recovered devices was the mobile phone stolen from former Deputy Superintendent of Police Indrajit Roy.
Speaking on the occasion, Manojit Sarkar said that the police remain committed to serving the public and resolving their grievances. He also recalled that the police had earlier recovered all the stolen belongings following a theft at an officer’s residence.
He added that returning the stolen mobile phone of a former officer of the department was a matter of pride for the police.
The initiative by Matigara Police ahead of Diwali brought a special festive gift to 36 families, who received their lost or stolen phones back.
