Siliguri, 17th November: Based on a tip-off, the Matigara police launched operations in front of North Bengal University and arrested four men along with 500 grams of brown sugar which was being smuggled from Malda to Siliguri.
The arrested accused have been identified as Situ Sheikh (35), Kalu Mandal (26), Rintu Sheikh (21), and Mohammad Amir (55). A pickup van was also seized in the incident.
According to police sources, the market value of the recovered brown sugar is estimated to be around 2 lakh rupees. The arrested individuals were produced before the court on Tuesday.
