Matigara police arrest bike thief months after theft complaint

Siliguri, 25th March: A bike theft complaint lodged in August 2024 at Matigara police station under Siliguri Metropolitan Police has been solved after nearly 7-8 months. Police arrested a youth, identified as Dipankar Singha (27), a resident of New Rangia Jote.


The complainant, Subrajit Adhikari, had reported that his bike was stolen while he was shopping in the Shiv Mandir area. Recently, Matigara police received information that a youth was seen roaming around with a stolen bike in Solakabhita of the Shiv Mandir area.

Acting on the tip-off, undercover police reached the spot and questioned the youth. Upon verification, it was confirmed that he had the stolen bike from the earlier complaint. The accused was immediately arrested.


Matigara police produced the accused in Siliguri court on Tuesday and are further investigating the case.
