Maternity ward at NBMCH receives heightened security measures following theft of newborn

Siliguri, 22nd April: In response to the theft of a newborn baby from the maternity department of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), security has been tightened in the department. A woman and a man have been deployed as security personnel, and only those with tickets and within the stipulated time are being allowed to enter the maternity department. Visitors are also being closely examined. Additionally, CCTV cameras have been installed outside the department to ensure proper surveillance.

The theft occurred two days ago, and the newborn has not been found yet. The hospital’s management has taken measures to improve the security arrangements to prevent any such incidents in the future. However, some of the patient’s relatives are questioning why these measures were not implemented earlier. They believe that if the management had been alert beforehand, the theft would not have happened. Nonetheless, they are happy that the security arrangements have been strengthened and hope that they will be maintained in the future.
