With the arrest of the main accused, the Special Operations Group (SOG), Detective Department (DD), and Pradhan Nagar police station can breathe a sigh of relief.
The incident unfolded on the morning of June 24 when Prabhakar Singh, a prominent businessman from Siliguri Regulated Market, was forcefully abducted at gunpoint from Champasari Main Road. This incident sent shockwaves throughout the city, causing widespread panic. However, approximately two weeks after the abduction, the police managed to capture the mastermind behind the crime. So far, five individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to police sources, Prabhakar Singh was kidnapped by a close friend due to financial motives. The mastermind, Navlesh Kumar, is also a businessman associated with the Regulated Market. Prabhakar and Navlesh were well-acquainted with each other. It has been revealed that Prabhakar had entrusted a substantial amount of money to Navlesh for business purposes. A dispute arose between the two when Prabhakar demanded the money back. In an attempt to evade repayment, Navlesh devised a kidnapping plan. However, his plan has now been thwarted.
