Naxalbari, 07th February: A massive fire broke out on Friday evening in Dhakna Colony under the Maniram Gram Panchayat area of Naxalbari, reducing an entire house to ashes and triggering panic in the locality.
According to sources, the fire erupted suddenly in the house on Friday evening, with locals suspecting a short circuit as the cause. The blaze completely destroyed two rooms of the house, along with furniture and important documents, while another room was partially damaged.
It was reported that an 11 standard student resides in the affected family, and all of his textbooks were gutted in the fire. Due to the densely populated area, fire tenders were unable to reach the spot. As a result, local residents stepped in and battled the flames for nearly an hour before managing to bring the fire under control.
Following the incident, the affected family has demanded compensation from the administration.
