Siliguri,03rd May: A major fire broke out on Friday night in a closed warehouse located under Ward No. 6 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, sparking panic among nearby residents. The intensity of the blaze caused significant alarm in the area.
Following the outbreak, the fire department was immediately alerted. In response, three fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and began efforts to bring the fire under control. Due to the severity of the flames, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) team was also called in for assistance. With the joint efforts of the fire brigade and the SSB, the fire was finally brought under control late at night.
Ward Councilor Md. Alam Khan promptly arrived at the scene upon learning about the incident and reviewed the situation. He informed the media that while the exact cause of the fire is still unknown, initial estimates suggest a short circuit might have triggered the blaze.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident. In the aftermath, local residents have urged the administration to conduct regular inspections of closed warehouses in the area to prevent similar incidents in the future. The fire department is currently investigating the matter.
