Siliguri, 02nd January: An incident of mishap came to light where a devastating fire broke out at the establishment of the National Research Centre for Orchids located near Lal Kothi in Darjeeling.
According to reports, the incident took place earlier on Tuesday when the fire emerged from the electrical meter box and engulfed the infrastructure in no time. The incident was later reported to the fire department. Following this, the police and fire department promptly arrived at the scene and took control of the prevailing situation after prolonged attempts.
The incident resulted in a significant loss as several documents including research papers were reduced to ashes. Currently, the police are investigating the cause of the fire.
