Manipur Police arrests driver allegedly involved in scrap-laden truck theft in Siliguri

Siliguri, 21st July: In a significant breakthrough, the Manipur police have arrested a suspect named Amarjeet Singh, a resident of Punjab, from Bidhan Nagar in connection with the theft of a scrap-laden truck.

According to reports, Singh allegedly transported a truck filled with scrap from Manipur to Rangiya in Assam on the 30th of June. However, the truck failed to reach its destination within time, prompting the scrap owner to initiate a search for both the truck and the driver. Upon searching, it was discovered that the driver’s mobile phone was switched off. The truck was loaded with scrap valued between Rs 5 to 6 lakhs.

Subsequently, a complaint was filed at the local police station, leading Manipur police to trace the location of the driver’s mobile phone and gather intelligence. Based on this information, the suspect was apprehended on Saturday from Bidhan Nagar, and the scrap-laden truck was seized.

On Sunday, the suspect was presented before the Siliguri court, after which the Manipur police took him into custody and departed for Manipur under transit remand.
